Update on PAFSO Strike and Visa Processing
June 19, 2013
On June 12th, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) issued an alert about possible visa delays due to current strike action by The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) union responsible for processing visa applications.
They are advising anyone applying for a visa to anticipate possible delays. CIC continues to closely monitor the situation and has stated that contingency plans are already in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service.
Diamond Global has operated in this space for 25 years. With that experience comes the knowledge that embassy offices are generally staffed by local personnel from within the various countries. As such, these locally engaged staff members will continue to work as usual. Only the supervisors (e.g. Consuls) would be taking strike action, which should mean only a minimal effect on applications.
To be safe, if your business is considering sourcing foreign workers under the TFWP, we encourage you to contact us sooner rather than later to ensure your application is submitted as far in advance as possible.
Diamond Global is committed to staying abreast of all announcements and keeping our contacts informed. Should you have any questions, please feel welcome to contact us at any time.
